NCRC Action Alert: Send Letters to HUD on Mortgage Disclosures and Save Consumers Significant Loan Costs

The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) is proposing to change their regulations implementing the Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA). RESPA regulations dictate how loan fees and costs are disclosed on mortgage documents. While lawyers are usually most interested in this regulation, community and consumer groups must get involved. HUD has made a good start in improving disclosures, but their proposal needs to be
strengthened. Clear and understandable disclosures of loan costs and fees can help consumers avoid abusive loans with high fees.

Letters must be postmarked by October 28th. Mail your letter today!
