NTIA Requests Comments on Deployment of Broadband Networks in U.S.

The National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) has invited interested parties to submit comments on several broadband deployment issues, including supply and demand for broadband services and the technical, economic, or regulatory barriers to broadband deployment.

NTIA submitted its request to the Federal Register for publication on Monday, November 19, 2001. Commenters will have 30 days after the publication in the Federal Register in which to comment. The Request for Comment is currently posted on the NTIA Web site at http://www.ntia.doc.gov/.

"This information will help us finalize and flesh out our broadband policy," said Nancy J. Victory, Assistant Secretary of Commerce and Administrator of NTIA. "We want to build on the informal discussions we held on October 12, and we want to ensure that all stakeholders and the public have an opportunity to be heard, and to be part of the official record."
