Committee Serial No. 18. Hearing to consider H.R. 1542, the Internet Freedom and Broadband Deployment Act of 2001, to promote Internet competition, growth, and customer access, including provisions to:
   a. Require incumbent local exchange carriers to allow Internet service providers to interconnect with their high speed data services, excluding fiber optic lines and unbundled network elements.
   b. Allow local telephone companies, including regional Bell operating companies to transport data over long distance telephone lines without first opening up local markets to competition.
