SUMMARY AS OF:

Section 245(i) Extension Act of 2001 - Amends the Immigration and Nationality Act, respecting petitions for certain illegal aliens seeking to adjust to permanent resident status without leaving the United States, to: (1) extend the filing deadline for qualifying alien children and spouses and employees to the earlier of April 30, 2002, or 120 days after the date on which the Attorney General first promulgates interim or final regulations for this Act; and (2) require, in the case of a alien beneficiary of a petition for classification or a labor certification that was filed after April 30, 2001, that the alien demonstrate that the familial relationship existed, or the labor certification was filed, before August 15, 2001.

States that the amendments made by this Act shall take effect as if included in the enactment of the Legal Immigration Family Equity Act, as enacted into law by Public Law 106-553.
