serve legal process in child support cases on certain arriving

would amend the INA to change the requirements for naturalization
through service in the U.S. armed forces. Section 1 of the bill
would amend INA §328(a) to reduce from three years to two the amount

armed forces to become eligible for naturalization under this
provision. The legislation would also add a new §328A to render
eligible for naturalization without a waiting period any enlisted
member of the armed forces whose eligibility for access to
classified information has been certified to the INS by the relevant
military department. |

ACT: A bill to amend Section 642(c) of the Illegal Immigration
Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act of 1996 (IIRAIRA) to require
the INS to verify whether an alien has an immigration status
rendering him or her eligible for service in the U.S. armed forces.
Under the bill, an alien who is verified as eligible for such
service would not be considered ineligible to be hired by the U.S.
for a position as an airport security screener as a result of his or
her immigration status. |
