• Senator Frist ran for the Senate to keep the Federal government off the farmers' backs, out of their wallets and off their land. Since that time, Senator Frist has supported efforts to reduce the regulatory burden effecting Tennessee farmers as well as supporting increased funding for agricultural research and development.

• In his travels across Tennessee's rural communities, Senator Frist has remained in touch with members of the agricultural community, and continues to be impressed with the strong family values and solid work ethic of our farmers and ranchers who truly do feed and clothe the world.

• Senator Frist voted for the final passage of the fiscal year 2002 Farm Bill. The bill supports Tennessee farmers by providing the saftey net they need to meet the challenges of this volitile industry. The bill provides agriculture research funding, conservation funding and commodity funding to support our farmers and ranchers.

• Senator Frist has supported numerous legislative initiatives that provide emergency funding and regulatory relief for Tennessee farmers. These initiatives include a measure to require federal agencies to consider the cost/benefit ratio of new regulations. Senator Frist supported efforts to ensure that the EPA uses sound science in the implementation of the Food Quality Protection Act. Senator Frist supports opening new export markets for Tennessee's agricultureal products. He supports granting Fast Track Authority to the President, and he supports the Market Access Program to open agricultural markets.
