Senate Farm Bill: The Debate Continues
7/2/2002

The Senate on Dec. 19 voted not to invoke cloture, meaning Senate Farm Bill debates will continue. Consideration of the Farm Bill by the Senate is effectively on hold until January.

In the interim, NCBA will work with Senators and their staff to help find consensus on contentious issues in hopes of finding a compromise that will be beneficial to the beef industry.

Once the Senate passes their version of the next Farm Bill, it will proceed to a House/Senate conference and then return to both bodies for final approval. After conference approval it will be given to President Bush to sign.
