Young Introduces H.R. 5455, The ExPDITE Act | |||
House Transportation and Infrastructure Chairman Don Young (R-AK) introduced the ExPDITE Act, the long-awaited streamlining bill for highways and transit projects on September 25. & Infrastructure subcommittee hearing on comprehensive reauthorization

The Fight Continues for Maximum Possible Highway Funding in 2003 | |||
While TEA-21 was intended to provide a predictable, guaranteed level of highway funding each year, this year was anything but predictable. Early this year, states received a letter from the U.S. Department of Transportation indicating that funding levels in fiscal year 2003 would be cut by 27%, from $31.8 billion to $23.3 billion. Looming Ethanol Mandate Threatens Highway Trust Fund | |||
In addition to the 13 annual appropriations bills and establishment of the Department of Homeland Security, the Energy Policy Act of 2002 is one of a handful of major bills that Congress will attempt to pass this year. The Highway Users increased its involvement in the energy bill debate after the Senate included a provision that would create a 5-billion gallon ethanol mandate for use in motor fuels.
