Americans For Transportation Mobility (ATM)

Launched on June 26, 2001, Americans for Transportation Mobility (ATM) -- a national coalition -- works to ensure our nation's transportation infrastructure is improved to handle current and future demands. The coalition represents transportation users and providers who are working together for a safer and more efficient transportation infrastructure system.

Congress will soon begin developing legislation to renew funding for our nation's highways, transit, airports, ports and waterways. It is also likely that raids on the federal transportation trust funds will be mounted. If successful, billions of dollars collected for infrastructure improvements would be shifted to non-transportation spending.

And that's not all. The lost time and money and the environmental degradation resulting from a clogged transportation system is nothing less than a tax on our economic vitality. Our quality of life will only worsen if we fail to address it.

That's why Americans for Transportation Mobility will work to promote investment in infrastructure and fight to streamline the burdensome approval process that significantly delays and even prevents critical transportation safety improvements.

The need for a unified, sustained effort in support of a safer and more efficient transportation network is clear. No one knows better then you - and the members of your organization - how crucial a strong transportation system is to creating economic growth, increasing international competitiveness, and improving quality of life.

The U.S. Chamber invites your organization to join the ATM in this critical effort. For further information, please contact Ed Mortimer at (202) 463-5600.

Your participation in this effort will enhance our likelihood of success. Please join us today to help ensure that our nation has the transportation system we need to expand our economy.
