Washington, D.C. — Statement by Josephine Cooper, President and CEO, Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers on EPA's decision to move forward with the clean diesel rule:
"The automakers have supported this rule making process from the beginning and are confident that the Bush administration and EPA Administrator Whitman made the right decision. Automakers have been working long and hard to develop new, fuel efficient vehicle technologies. Advanced diesel technologies are among the most promising options for improving fuel economy. We believe that the promulgation of this rule will help to move forward the diesel technologies that are critical for meeting the nation's energy policy goals. This is a victory for not only the automobile industry but also consumers and the environment."
