Goldstein, a leading energy efficiency advocate, is widely known for his work on market transformation in the buildings and transportation sectors. The Macarthur Foundation in particular cited his pioneering work over many years in successfully promoting energy efficiency of refrigerators. Goldstein is very active with the Alliance, including his service as delegate to Alliance Board member and NRDC President John Adams. Adams said: "David has been my colleague and friend for more than twenty years, and I simply couldn't be prouder of this award and what it says about David's extraordinary career and the role of scientific analysis and advocacy at NRDC." Alliance President David Nemtzow added: “All of us at the Alliance and in the energy efficiency community are thrilled at this recognition of David’s extraordinary work. We have always enjoyed working with David and will enjoy his company even more once he receives his half-million dollar Genius award.” Links:

The congressional conference committee tasked to resolve differences between the House and Senate energy bills continues to race the clock to finish its work before Congress adjourns. Negotiators have hammered out agreements on a variety of provisions, including appliance and fuel efficiency standards and federal energy management, but many of the most controversial issues have yet to be completed. The key remaining efficiency issue is tax incentives for efficient homes, cars, appliances, commercial buildings, combined heat and power, and other technologies – including whether or not there will be such incentives for efficiency, the level of the incentive, and the criteria needed to qualify. If you’d like to have a say on the Energy bill before it’s too late then please join the Alliance’s Energy Activist Network today.
