WASHINGTON – The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) has
endorsed Linda Sanchez (D-Calif.) in her bid to represent
California’s new 39th Congressional District.
“Linda Sanchez understands the importance of a clean,
healthy and sustainable environment,” said Betsy Loyless, LCV
political director. “The people of California can count on
Linda Sanchez to be a member of Congress who will fight to
keep their air clean, their water safe, and their open spaces
protected.”
If elected to Congress, Californians can depend on Linda
Sanchez to work for commonsense environmental measures that
will protect their health and quality of life. Through
her actions as a community leader Sanchez has been involved in
helping a California community get an abandoned car battery
dump placed on California’s list of toxic cleanup sites. She
has also worked to address environmental justice issues in
California; using her bilingual capabilities to translate
warnings about toxic sites for Spanish-speaking community
members and teaching residents how to participate in the
public hearing process.
Linda Sanchez supports increased CAFE standards, emission
reductions from power plants, increased use and funding of
renewable energy, protecting forest roadless areas, and
reinstating federal Superfund taxes to clean up toxic waste
sites.
