U.S. international assistance has contributed
enormously to the lives of millions of people
throughout the world. President Bush’s new
Millennium Account proposes to provide
development assistance to selected countries
that adopt sound economic, political and social
policies. CARE applauds the President for this
initiative, and continues to urge the
Administration and Congress to increase
development assistance funding for countries
that do not satisfy the criteria for good
governance. People in those countries are no
less impoverished and have the same need for
work, food, stability and education. CARE
continues to engage with the U.S. Congress and
Administration to ensure that, through
development assistance funding, the U.S. remains
actively invested in the future of the
world.
