Statement of Senator Jay Rockefeller (D-WV) on the House of Representatives’ Aviation Security Vote "My concern is for the safety of the flying public. The only way to ensure their safety is to have uniform, federalized airport security. We know that private companies have failed to provide the security our nation expects and deserves." "Airport security is no longer just a transportation issue, it’s a national security issue. The traveling public and the American economy deserve a safe and secure aviation system. They deserve well-trained, uniform, law enforcement professionals screening every passenger and bag at every counter, and at every airport-- large or small. They deserve the peace of mind that come with federal airport security." ### |
